Et sub signis sacramentalibus latentis
Eximium praedicatorem constituisti.
Concede nobis, ejus intercessione,

Per Dominum Jesum Christum…
God our Father, you made your priest, Blessed Peter Vigne

Introduction to the Office
Peter Vigne was born in Privas, on August 20th 1670. Formed by the Sulpiciens in the Seminary of Viviers, he was ordained a priest in the parish of Bourg Saint Andeol, by the bishop of Viviers. After a brief period of parish ministry in Saint Agreve, he joined the Vincentian Fathers where he was introduced to missionary life at the school of St. Vincent de Paul. He remained with them with them for a few years and then withdrew, to continue preaching missions following his own pastoral methods.
Captivated by Jesus Christ dying on the Cross and present in the Eucharist for love of us, he travelled to the remotest rural parishes of Vivarais and Dauphiné, preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ and erecting Stations of the Cross. In 1715, he founded the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament in Boucieu-le-Roi where he lived, which was then part of the diocese of Valence. He died on July 8th 1740, during one of his missions, at Rencurel, in the Vercors. His body was brought back to Boucieu and laid to rest in the Parish Church.
Christ, Adorable Sun
Come, Choirs of Angels, look in awe upon the Goodness of your divine King, your adorable Sun and powerful Mediator between God and man. Draw close and adore him on this Altar where he is present for us. He, the Almighty, the All Perfect One comes in lowliness, to offer adoration to God his Father. This then, is the wondrous memorial of his sacrifice on Calvary! Here is made present his painful passion, his sacred Body is present in the Host and his precious Blood fills this Chalice. O Jesus, I will always keep in mind your passion and your presence on this Altar, and your words, “Do this in memory of me” are forever engraved on my memory.
How I should constantly reflect upon your humility O Jesus in this sacrifice, and your complete obedience, even to accepting death on the Cross. My one desire is to be united with you in heart and soul and to follow and imitate you always.
Eternal Father, here is your only Son raised up to you. When this sacred Host is lifted up, lift up our hearts and minds to you. Help us to keep our eyes turned towards you, and may you, our in-comparable treasure, fill all our desires.
O Jesus, raised up on the Cross for love of us, ask the Father for all the graces we need. Humble in mind and heart we kneel before you and adore you.
Come, Soul of my Saviour, renew my spirit.
O most precious Blood, come and sanctify me.
O Loving Offering, let me be one with you, so that your Father will look kindly upon me.
Jesus my Saviour, with the help of your grace, never will I forget that your sacred Passion is the cause of my joy. Never will I forget that your glorious Resurrection strengthens the faith and hope I have that one day, I too will be raised up with you. Never will I forget that your Ascension has mapped out for me the path to happiness. I open my heart to those three mysteries as I contemplate and adore your Sacrament.
May your great work be graciously fulfilled in us, so that we may praise and glorify you eternally for the gifts you give us, the gifts we now offer.
